About The Coeur d Alene Coop

The Coeur d’Alene Coop is devoted exclusively to open-pollinated and heirloom plant varieties that are especially well suited to our north Idaho growing conditions. And while we are not a “certified organic” grower, we always follow organic guidelines as part of our gardening practice. Our seed-starting mix and potting soil are also approved by the Organic Materials Review Institute (ORMI), and we only use organic fertilizers (fish emulsion) on our plant starts.

We start each of our plants from seed—often from certified organic seed stock. Each individual seedling is carefully transplanted by hand into a recyclable growing container, and all of our plants are hardened off so they are ready for planting in their new garden homes.

Candace has such a vast knowledge of everything related to gardening! I am always impressed by her newsletter and articles in the Coeur d'Alene Press. She ;has been a guest speaker at River City Gardener's Club meetings, and everyone looks forward to hearing her present. Her advice how to improve our soil to growing her wonderful seedlings is an inspiration to keep on keeping on in the gardening world!

Love the starter plants I've gotten from the CdA Coop! They always work wonderfully for me. Her newsletters are so helpful and inspiring, giving local advice right when it's needed year-round and making it seem achievable even with a busy working parent schedule!

Candace provides a wide variety of vegetables and all have proven successful. Last year our tomato and cucumber harvest was beyond expectations and I'm certain we will achieve similar results this year. The newsletter that she provides contains an abundance of tips and information. Just read her article on optimum soil temperature for planting various vegetable varieties which has me thinking of altering my cucumber planting, temperatures so far in May have been a roller coaster. Thanks for everything.

If you enjoy gardening and growing your own veggies - the CDA Coop is a must. Excellent and often unique varieties (particularly tomatoes). I have been growing their stock for years and try something new and different every year. Wonderful plants and great people for sure!
